The Tendaho Dam and Irrigation Project, which is located around Logiya town of the Afar State at a cost of over 4.1 ETB, was started in 1997 E.C and completed in 2009 E.C. The project included the construction of 72 km main canal as well as primary, secondary and tertiary canals. The Tendaho dam, which has a capacity of holding 1.8 billion cubic meters of water, can develop 60,000 hectares of land.

Leaders and employees of the corporation discuss on quarterly execution
The leaders and workers of Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECC) discussed the first 100 days of reforms and major economic achievements of the FDRE government in the 2017 fiscal year, as well as the implementation of the corporation's first quarter plan.
According to the government's 100-day reform and major economic performance document presented for discussion, the economic performance showed a great improvement compared to the same period of last year, and this result was achieved because of the macroeconomic reform’s successful execution, inclusive, sustainable and competitive development activities, digital finance and revenue raising activities.
Furthermore, the discussants review ECC’s first quarter report of 2017EFY and it was observed that the corporation is at a better level and that it was able to achieve 96 percent of its profit plan and 74 percent of the revenue plan through the coordinated efforts.
The Corporation signs an MoU with Ethiopian Quality Award Organization

On October 21, 2024, at the corporation's Paradise meeting hall in Kality, the signing ceremony was held by the CEO of the corporation, Engineer Yonas Ayalew, through the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation, and by the Ethiopian Quality Award Organization, Mr. Tewodros Mebratu, and CEO of the organization.
The CEO’s stated at the signing ceremony of the MoU aims to measure the overall operation of the corporation in terms of international quality management standards, provide technical support and provide feedback to make it a preferred corporation at the African level.
The Corporation celebrates Flag Day
Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECC) leaders and workers celebrated the 17th National Flag Day of Ethiopia.
The leaders and workers celebrated the day by performing a flag hoisting ceremony and singing the national anthem together through the CEO of the corporation, Engineer Yonas Ayalew.
The leaders and employees of the corporation celebrated the Flag Day with the motto "Our flag is for our national unity, sovereignty and the elevation of Ethiopia" at the ECCGIW campus in cooperation with Irq Maad Kaliti film and the need.
FAEO Presidents Visit ECWC and Are Impressed by Its Performance
Today, the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) proudly hosted Eng. Kazawadi Papias, President of the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO), and Eng. Martin Manuhwa, former President of FAEO, at our headquarters. The distinguished visitors toured several of our premier facilities, including the BIM Project Control Room, the Construction Project Management Center of Excellence, the Construction Professionals Development Institute, the ECC-Industry Zone, and the Construction Material Production Center.
The Presidents were deeply impressed by the innovations and outstanding performance of ECWC across various sectors. They specifically commended the work being done at the Construction Project Management Center of Excellence, which is setting new standards for project management in the region. Eng. Yonas, CEO of ECWC, welcomed the FAEO leaders and showcased the corporation’s transformative efforts in advancing construction practices in Ethiopia and Africa.
This visit reinforces the strong ties between ECWC and FAEO and highlights the corporation’s leading role in shaping the future of engineering excellence on the continent.
ECC signs a design contract
Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECC) signed a contractual agreement with Southeren Ethiopia Regional State to prepare design works of residence for the Vice Presidents, offices, residential apartments to be built in the six cluster centers of the Regional Government, and for the construction of the presidential palace and office at Wolaita Sodo.
On behalf of the corporation, Engineer Wegen Solomon, Executive Officer of the Corporation's Project Development Center of Excellence, attending the signing ceremony, and on behalf of the National Regional Government of Southern Ethiopia, Mr. Birhanu Zewde, the head of the Regional Urban and Infrastructure Bureau, attending the event.
Senior Officials of Ethiopian Federal Police Visit Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation
Senior officers from the Ethiopian Federal Police, led by Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael, visited the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECC) at its Kality premises.
During their visit, the officials observed several key operations, including the technology-assisted Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), the daily performance management system, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) workshop, first of its kind in Africa. They also toured other ECC industries.
At the conclusion of the visit, Commissioner General Demelash expressed his satisfaction with the corporation’s leadership, praising ECC’s determination to execute projects that foster national pride and prosperity. "I am pleased to witness the dedication of the ECC in undertaking works that will make the nation proud," he remarked.
ECC CEO Engineer Yonas Ayalew reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to its partnerships, particularly with the Federal Police Commission. "We approach the work for the police as if it were our own," he stated. He assured that ECC would deliver on all projects, including the ongoing construction of the Ethiopian Police University Leadership Excellence Academy in Sendafa City, a project valued at more than 2.7 billion birr, with the highest quality and within the agreed timelines.
The visit highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Ethiopian Federal Police and ECC in ensuring the successful completion of critical infrastructure projects.
